120428 Prize-Giving Day.

... I'm starting to slack off when it comes to blogging again *headdesk* I really need to get my blogging mojo back ;_;

Anyway, we had our typical prize-giving day. Also, it was practically the last time that I visited my secondary school. I just don't have that kind of habit - and time - to visit my old high school, it's nothing personal, really.

Arrived just before 8, registered, sat in my seat, shifted around to talk to friends, got ordered back to my seat by the teacher-in-charge, stoned while waiting for all the juniors to be done, then it was finally my turn to go up. Got my plaques and certificates for 10A+ and Best in Additional Mathematics. Since the ceremony was over and done with, we started snapping photos. Then suddenly, they announced the top scorer awards and my name was called. Ivy had a panic attack because I shoved my DSLR into her hands before running (more like tottering in ridiculous high heels) towards the stage, hahah. But luckily, she could handle the camera in time and managed to snap a photo of me ♥

And then we wanted to go out, but then coincidentally, Bersih 3.0 was being staged that day. So we couldn't go to the usual hangouts in the city, and that left 1Shamelin. Sadly, I couldn't go due to transport issues.

It was good seeing you guys again :') We need to plan another reunion (and not after like, 10 years okay)!

... I just realized I'm posting about this event 2 months later. Argh. Procrastination, please go away~

120406 Meet-up with Leo.

So, I first met Leo at the NSCFL camp back in 2009, after PMR. And three years later, we met up again when he came to KL for some debate competition. If you're reading this, Leo, it was nice to see you again! :D

Okay pictures.

Ivy and I met up with Leo (who was unrecognisable with his near-bald head, a side-effect of National Service *cough*) at Pavilion, then we had a last-minute change of plan (thanks to Kim -.-) and walked all the way to Times Square. Luckily it wasn't that far.

So, we met up with Kim and went for lunch at some Japanese restaurant, where Kim and Leo had a few bromance moments.

Food food food food

With lunch out of the way, we went to watch Street Dance 2, which was... meh. Typical storyline of guy falling for girl, something happens that separates them, then they get back together at the end of the movie. I actually felt bored during the movie ._.

When the movie finished, we went to camwhore take memorable pictures.

All in all, it was awesome.

120321 SPM Results & Mini-Reunion.

So... as you guys know, the 2011 SPM results were released on the 21st of March.

I still remember that I woke up on that day feeling like a mixture of emotions: scared and nervous for the obvious reasons, but also relieved that it was all going to be over in a matter of hours. Upon reaching school, I could practically smell the tense atmosphere and almost everyone had the nervous expression. All the juniors were sitting down in the Skylite and staring at us. Then, Priya and I saw the principal coming back from the Education Department with these two ominous-looking envelopes containing the results. Plus, it was super hard to read her expression :|

And the dreaded moment approached. The teacher-in-charge started talking about our school's history of SPM results, and then she mentioned that this year our school has improved with 40 straight A students and 2 straight A+ students. Ohmigosh, I think I was trembling at this point.

Then she announced the names of the straight A+ scorers.

And the most surreal thing happened.

My name was called.

OMG.

And I just started crying tears of joy. I felt like I expected it, but at the same time I wasn't expecting it. Ah, the feeling is just... indescribable. You have to experience it yourself to know.

Yeah, you can see my terrible crying face here. But I honestly don't care because that moment was awesome.

So after all of us got our result slips, we made plans to go to Mid Valley for a small reunion. We had to be transported via two cars. Our restaurant of choice was Italiannies. Yum.

Obligatory food photos. Mushroom soup, bread and (I think) spaghetti bolognaise.

Our bill and a feedback form that Xi Men cheekily filled in.

Then we went to Toys 'R' Us to accompany Kwai See who wanted to get a present for her baby sister. Call us childish, but we had loads of fun in there 8D

Fooling around :D

I think we ran out of ideas and were pretty bored, so we decided to go bowling. Note to self, don't wear skirts/dresses when bowling because it was super awkward and difficult to not flash anything inappropriate *cough*

We met Sherwin coincidentally! :D

Bowling shenanigans.

And just like that, that magical day ended. It was good to see all of my high school mates again :D
Pretty sure this reunion won't be our last, heh.

120225 Orientation Ball.

Date: 25th February 2012
Venue: J.W. Marriott Hotel, KL.

This orientation ball was an exciting affair for all of us (especially us girls because you know... we had to find dresses and so on. Such a hassle. Let's not even broach the topic of makeup -_-). It felt exactly like prom, and I didn't go to my own high school prom (which coincidentally, was held at the same hotel), so excuse my jakun-ness :D

Yi May brought along her DSLR, so I kinda abducted it, hehe. And that explains why there are such high quality photos.

Random pre-ball stuff.

 Group shots.

We SBU-ians (Shal, Ivy, Priya, Niren, Rahul and I) sat at the same table with a couple of Niren's AUSMAT friends and Yi May. So we sort of knew each other and the atmosphere wasn't as awkward as we'd feared. Sort of.

Performances of the night.

I feel like MCKL has so many talented people who can play musical instruments/sing/dance. The winner of the night was this band who performed (if I'm not wrong) One Direction's What Makes You Beautiful and Shakira's Waka Waka using common household items like pails, glass bottles etc. So cool.

Soooo many photos with lovely people ♥

Towards the end of the ball, the dance floor was opened and we all got to dance. It was awkward in the beginning because all the slow songs were playing and there were only couples slow-dancing. Then the fast songs came on and everyone let their hair down. Like Shal exclaimed, "I never knew MCKL people were so crazy (in a good way, of course)!" Also, I've never seen Rahul and Niren party so hard, hahah.

Alright, abrupt end of post, as usual. I had a wonderful time, and yet another awesome memory to cherish :)

College Updates.

I'm going to start off my blogging comeback with a post of random college stuff before I blog about those events with dozens of photos.

Disclaimer: Some (actually most -.-) of these photos do not belong to me.

cr: Ivy.

This was taken on the first day of college! We (Ivy, Priya, Shalini and I) stuck together throughout the two days of orientation. We ended up going to different classes though.

cr: Ivy.

This was taken at some jewellery exhibition thing which I went with Ivy and her sister, Diorene. It was right after college, so we had to change our clothes in the KL Convention Centre's toilets :o Anyway, it was fun to ogle the models :x

First class photo!

This was for Chinese New Year. The other cohorts wore red as well, and the college was populated with people in red :D

cr: Ivy.

During our photo shoot for schools. I remember we were super stressed out over what to wear because the dress code was smart casual :D

cr: Ivy.

Taken after we did community service for the first time at Rumah Hope. The travelling was crazy and we could only do an hour, so subsequently we switched to SPCA. Nevertheless, it was fun to play with the kids :D

Our (sort of failed) Headgear Day.

Less than half the class came with headgear :( But never mind, there's always a next time! :D

cr: Esther. My group, Hyper Helium! :D

Orientation camp! It was super fun and I had the best time of my life there. I had my very first experience sleeping in tents :D

Blue Day!

This was less of a failure than Headgear Day. Woots!
It was also Priya's birthday :D

Buddies♥

First outing with college friends! We were celebrating Priya's birthday :D

Performed and participated in MCKL's Treasure Hunt. Dancing was fun :D The hunt itself was super tiring, because we had to go to several locations (MCKL,KL Sentral, Ampang Park, Times Square) within 4 hours and search for the answers to the clues.

cr: Ivy.

Second outing with the buddies.

cr: Ivy.

Yen Ling and I lost a bet with Ivy, so we had to wear double ponytails and Ivy's special polka dot headbands -.-

 cr: Priya.

Taken after our Chemistry Edexcel exam :D My first time sitting for an exam at night (8 to 9.30pm). I feel so bad-ass, haha.

cr: Sherwin.

Celebrated Priscilla's birthday during our one week break before the C2 exam :D

Phew. That was a lot of work. I might have left out a few things accidentally, but this is pretty much my 5 months of college summed into 1 post.

Toodles!

O hai thar.

*looks shiftily* *wipes dust off blog* Okay, I need some time to get used to the new Blogger interface. It looks so modern and minimalistic now.

I'm back in the blogging scene! *waits for applause* *silence*

The main reason why I'm blogging again is because... well, it's currently my June holidays and I'm pretty much bored out of my mind. So, I thought, why don't I just update my blog since I have quite a bit of free time. It's more productive than watching dramas and reading books the whole day.

The first thing I did when I signed into my Blogger account was to change my blog template. It looks simpler and cleaner now. My main reason to change the template was actually because I wanted to increase the post widths so that I could post huge photos. The previous template was a hassle when it came to photos because I had to re-size everything to about 500px in width. So, this template will be temporary (or permanent) until I find a better one.

Alright, brace yourselves, for I'm about to start posting backdated events as far back as February! *grim*

Can you stay strong? Can you go on?

Currently listening to: Kristy, Are You Doing Okay? by The Offspring.

Tomorrow is D-Day! The day which every single teacher has been talking about when I was in Form 5 :|
I'm so worried that I don't even know what to do (apart from blogging, obviously!) I hope my results are good!

I'm actually looking forward to seeing all my ex-teachers and juniors :D Oh, and also, meeting up with all my awesome friends ♥

Toodles.

Day 5 - Your dreams.

Yes, I know I've been MIA for one month and ten days. Sorry about that.
Felt like striking off yet another day of the letter challenge, so here goes.

I have a lot of dreams. So many, that sometimes even I lose track of them. When I was a kid, I remember my dreams included growing up (because it seemed cool to be an adult), to be pretty (tsk, shallow!), to be liked by everybody (actually, that still applies for the present, haha), to have a sibling and to have nice toys.

One of my many, many far-fetched dreams is to go to a good university and study preferably medicine. I'm currently interested in Imperial College London, but the entry requirements are really high. They require all As for the Medicine degree. Even more reason why I need to study like crazy. 13 more months of hard work, Michelle!

Another is to have a somewhat perfect life. Nobody is perfect, but I can certainly strive to be! I'm definitely not very well off in the looks area, so to make up for that I need to be better in other areas, like academics and personality etc. etc.

Last (but not least!), my MOST important dream is to have everyone I love, safe and sound. I wish death didn't exist and all my loved ones would have eternal life, but that's unrealistic and Earth would be crazy over-populated, haha. So the next best thing is hoping that most of them would stay alive as long as possible. Oh and that there will never be any form of distance in our relationships with each other

Hopefully my dreams will come true. Nothing is free, so I'll have to work hard for them!

, M.

A New Phase.

Currently listening to: A Thousand Years by Christina Perri.

Current favourite song

Hi, peeps! :)

I don't know if I've mentioned it in my blog yet, but I'm currently taking A-Levels at Methodist College, KL. College started on the 3rd of January. The first two days were orientation days, where the lecturers just came into the auditorium and gave us briefings on our subjects, the rules and regulations of the college and such. On the 2nd day, we were split into our classes, according to subject combination and admission number. I'm in S1201 β, with Shalini.

My thoughts on the college so far?

I think MCKL is awesome. I really love the environment, it's extremely study-friendly. The lab sessions are also really cool and fun, totally unlike school. I've met really friendly people from various cultures and races. The cafeteria isn't too bad either, the food's really affordable and pretty tasty. Christian Fellowship (CF) at MCKL is really active due to large number of Christians, and hence, it's really fun.

A-Levels is really intense. In the course of 3 weeks, my Math lecturer has finished 6 topics which is three-quarters of the entire C1 syllabus :o Everyday, we have homework for most of the subjects. The hours are also pretty long, now one period is equal to an hour, whereas in school one period was equal to 40 minutes. On an average, my classes start at 9am daily and finish about 3.30/4.30pm. Break is only 30 minutes long.

Everyday, I travel to and fro from college by train. Which means I have to get up early in the morning and when I get back, I'm quite knackered. But slowly, I'm adjusting to this new lifestyle. In fact, I actually enjoy being early at college, because I can do whatever revision I want and chat with my friends.

So that's pretty much what I feel about my college so far. Toodles! I'll blog in a couple of days ;)

HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR! :D

New Year's Resolutions.

A little flashback to my new year resolutions last year:

RESOLUTIONS FOR 2011;
  • Study my butt off to get perfect grades for SPM. (make that straight 'A+'s).
                              - I don't know my results for SPM yet :s
  • Be a good daughter, friend, student and human.
  • Do my Ed Board duties well.
  • Improve my electone playing skills.
  • Lose weight (I'm vain like that) & grow taller (anything is possible lah, ok).
                             - Surprisingly, I did grow taller! Hehe :D

  • Save money for a DSLR.
  • Read another five hundred books.
  • Blog more often, and not just during the holidays (SPM exams are an exception).
  • Learn basic Korean and Chinese (I'm a banana -_-").
  • Learn how to cook Korean dishes.
  • Overcome my fear of butterflies/moths (no, srsly).

I'm actually amazed that I managed to achieve so many resolutions in a year. YAY! So I'll set myself more challenges for this 2012. I don't care if any of you go all "Oh, everyday should be a fresh new start, not just when it's a new year blablabla". I shall try my best to achieve all the resolutions :D

RESOLUTIONS FOR 2012;

  • Study hard for A-Levels.
  • Pass driving test to get P license.
  • Get to know more people.
  • Blog mooooooore & revamp blog template.
  • Enhance my photography skills.
  • Stop procrastinating and finish up the 30 Day Letter Challenge... and start a new challenge.
  • Stop staying up late so much.
  • Dye my hair burgundy (or a similar shade).
  • Go on a road trip.
  • Learn how to draw eyeliner (because I suck at girly things like makeup.)
  • Learn at least 10 new songs on the electone.
  • Be happier and healthier.
  • Take up another language.
Okay, I can't think of any more at the moment. Cheers! ;)

Looking Back.

First post of the new year! :D

Remember my recap of 2010 last year? Now I'm gonna make a similar recap for 2011. Gosh, time does pass fast.

If I have to put it in simple words, 2011 was pretty good to me. It wasn't as much of a roller coaster as 2010 was, instead I'd describe it as smooth-sailing (minus all the stress for SPM, duh). I didn't really attend many events because I was being my nerdy, recluse-like self, so this recap is definitely not gonna be as interesting as 2010's, sorry! :(

January.

Chocolate-making workshop.
  • Elected as vice secretary of Badminton Club, AJK Papan Kenyataan of Cooke House and promoted to secretary of the Science and Mathematics Club. Also attended my first Editorial Board meeting.
  • Attended a chocolate-making workshop organised by Persatuan Pandu Puteri Malaysia mainly because of the amount of co-curricular points (we realised their importance only in our senior year), but it turned out to be fun. Now I can say I can make chocolate :)
  • Joined the celibacy club (brownie points for you if you understood what I'm talking about :D).

February.

CNY stuff.
  • Celebrated Chinese New Year as usual with my family.
  • Survived Intervensi 1 and got an A for Biology. Yeah, it's so rare for me to get an A in Biology that I actually feel the need to record this as a highlight T_T

March.

 At Pavilion.

  • Went out with friends and watched possibly the most disturbing movie ever *coughBlackSwancough*
  • The horrific tsunami and earthquake disaster hit Japan, and a huge nuclear problem ensued. I know this is a weird event to include, but this affects me as well because I have a host family in Tokyo. Thank goodness they're safe and sound.
  • Witnessed a supermoon.
  • Reality finally hit me hard and I could feel the pressure when last year's SPM results were released.
  • First and last time attending so many (6, to be exact. I counted.) yearbook photoshoots for all the different clubs I'm in.

April.

Our poster. Yes, I ruined it on purpose by adding my blog URL there so that no one can steal it.
  • Went for a poster design competition with Siew Yuan.
  • Went for an accounts competition in Taylor's.

May.

At the OiC Camp in Taylor's Lakeside Campus.
  • Worked my ass off for Thinkquest. Eventhough we didn't win, we walked away with experience and new directing/filming/editing skills.
  • Attended the OiC Camp at Taylor's and had loads of fun.

June.

My last Co-curricular Carnival.
  • Extracted my wisdom teeth.
  • Started the 30 Day Letter Challenge... and more than half a year later, I am still not done. Procrastination ftw.
  • Went for Spell-It-Right for the 2nd year in a row.
  • Had fun at the school's annual (and my last) Co-curricular Carnival

August.

We're cool like that.
  • I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I DID DURING AUGUST *scratches head*
  • Erm, my birthday is in August.
  • Showed the SBU spirit in Martin by wearing red.

September.

No photos whatsoever T_T
  • Survived SPM trials.
  • I think I went for college interviews during this month. Taylor's, Sunway and HELP. I turned down all their offers though *guilty*
  • Locked myself in my room for the whole month because of the exams, so basically my social life died a slow and painful death.

October.

Editorial Board farewell, graduation & Martin seminar.
  • It was the last month before SPM, so I went on a hiatus from blogging.
  • Attended the Editorial Board farewell.
  • Graduated from secondary school (but still had to attend school, jeez).
  • Stepped foot in Martin for the very last time.

November.

Again, no photos.
  • Time became very, very important. Studying became my top priority and revision books were my best friends, wth.
  • SPM commenced on the 14th. Everything else is insignificant.

December.

At Lynette's surprise farewell party.
  • After 11 months (not counting last year) of solid hard work, I finally savoured the sweet taste of freedom and enjoyed the option to slack.
  • Went out multiple times.
  • Started out on my journey towards complete independence. I'm talking about driving lessons.
  • Attended Lynette's surprise farewell party (which I have yet to write a post about).
  • Went for a Christmas musical.
So, that pretty much summed up my 2011. May 2012 bring better times :D New Year resolutions are gonna be in another post because I'm too tired to continue (I'm typing this at 2.30am). Toodles! :)
